And.. it continues..

So, they had scheduled a flight for him this weekend… but he didn’t go. It was supposed to fly through Houston, and even though they said he’d miss the storm by a couple of hours, I wasn’t comfortable with him trying to beat Hurricane Ike… He called the company and told them he wasn’t flying.

Here’s the deal.. they told him his offer was contingent on him being there at a certain date… 2 weeks from Monday… Are you kidding? So he scrambled to find another flight that didn’t go through Houston.. There wasn’t one on the airline he was scheduled to fly on…. So, he called back and asked them what the heck the offer was going to be anyway… That way we knew if it was something he needed to jump through hoops for or not…

Well, it turns out their salary offer would’ve been nice, but they were only going to give us $4K for moving expenses… and that was supposed to cover one month’s rent in this house so we could move faster, a U-Haul, gas for both the truck and my van, and a deposit, etc for finding a house there… Seriously.. um- no.. Then the next morning, they offered him to pay for the U-Haul Truck, and then give us $2500 in moving expenses… Now, I’m not sure, but isn’t that about the same as before??? Who are they kidding? It’s going to take more than $4K to move from California to North Carolina.

So he told them thanks but no thanks, and they came back with.. If we take some off of your salary, then we can give you more money… By this time though, Daddy was already flustered, and felt a little let down by them. We had already agreed that he wasn’t going to take this position… So they asked him to reimburse them for his plane ticket… Oh goodness… I ended up calling the airline, and get their money refunded. They had canceled the flight, so refunds were easy.

I know, I know, I’m not so secretly jumping for joy that I don’t have to pack up in two weeks or less, but a part of me does sort of wish that it had worked out. Daddy was really excited about possibly moving, and I was too.. Just not so quickly.

You know what I keep telling him though… He’s smart, he knows what he’s doing, and he’s got an awesome resume. The right job will come along! maybe not now, but it will! I firmly believe that too..
