Well, yesterday was Monkey See and Monkey Do’s big birthday bash…. We had somewhere around 40 people here, and it was a blast. I’ll admit… I was stressed as heck yesterday morning, but once everything was all said and done, it was a pretty darn good party…

About a month ago, we decided that we were actually going to throw a party. It was supposed to be a small, cozy, family and a couple of friends event. It ended up being a huge party. The fun crazy stressful part was that there were going to be some family members here that don’t exactly get along. Yaay… As long as everyone behaved themselves, I didn’t care. My whole idea is, if you aren’t here for the girls, then leave..

Anyway.. This past week was spent cleaning house from top to bottom, steam cleaning the carpets, dusting, scrubbing, you name it.. It had to be done. It was an absolutely crazy week.

So, we woke up around 630am, when the girls came into our room to wake us up… We got ready, and dressed the girls up. The party started at 1100am. We had a few things left to do before then. I had to finish cleaning the counters, run a vacuum over the carpets, scrub the BBQ down, and start making the snacks… I got it all done! Our first guest arrived around 1115. Good thing, because I was running late. Once they arrived, though, everyone started coming… There were people from our families, friends from Daddy’s work, friends from the girls’ play groups, and more friends from their daycare at Gold’s Gym… They were all so much fun to have here.

Daddy took charge of the BBQ’s, and I was able to talk to everyone and play with all of the kids, fill up water balloons, and set up some good snacks. Yes, I said water balloons. We warned the parents that we’d have some water games. It was a must. It was pretty hot, so a good cool down would be fun for everyone.

We ate a feast of Jalapeño Poppers, Hot Dogs, Bratwurst, Corn on the Cob, Baby Back Ribs, salad, and chips & dip… It was sooo yummy! After we ate, we let everyone relax a little bit, and then brought the kids in for presents.. The girls made out like bandits!!! They had a stack of presents here… it was absolutely crazy! They had so much fun opening everything, and they actually did a pretty good job of telling everyone “Thank you” after they opened their gifts.. I was so proud of them!

Instead of the traditional cake, we had cupcakes. It was so much easier to deal with, and the kids loved it. It was getting late in the afternoon, and most of the kids were beginning to crash… As soon as we pulled out the cupcakes, smiles formed, and it was like they had a second wind… We knew it was getting hot, so we told everyone it was water balloon time! The girls had gotten into the water balloons earlier, so there weren’t as many as there should have been, but, there were enough for them to have fun throwing them at their parents. The kids had hardly gotten wet, so I ran out front to grab our sprinkler.. and boy was that a hit… even some parents got in on that!

After a good run through the sprinklers, and some awesome photo opportunities, it was finally time for everyone to go home. Most of the kids were super tired by this point… Everyone dried off, and said their goodbyes. It was an amazing day! I loved seeing the smiles on all of the kids’ faces. It was awesome hearing them laughing and giggling and playing with each other. Honestly if I could, I’d do this more often.. I just don’t know if my pocketbook could handle it!!! LOL..

Here’s a link to some of the pictures of the sprinkler time… It was great!!!

Today, my meet up group, the Capital City Fun Bunch decided to check out the Funtastic Play Center in North Natomas. When we first got there, I was a little surprised at how small it looked compared to The Bounce Spot. I didn’t think that it was really going to be worth the $10 per child that I was going to be paying.. I figured I’d give it the benefit of the doubt…

I paid for their Toddle Time class, and let the girls go wild. Well.. sorta… We were called to the mats to stretch out after a little bit.. Monkey See was all about having fun and trying this class out, but Monkey Do was more interested in exploring the rest of the play area…

We got through the first part of the class, and the kids and mommies were given free play time… Let me tell you… that place is no joke! LOL It’s a WORKOUT! I guess that goes to show you not to let the size fool you. It really takes a lot out of you to climb through some of those nets and tunnels! The girls absolutely LOVED some of the slides… and yes.. their slides are slippery! You go really fast down a couple of them!

After free play time was over, we all gathered together on the mats again to play with a beach ball and a parachute. Monkey See, again, was all into it. Monkey Do.. well.. now that she knew the slides were super fast, that’s all she wanted to do… HAHA..

All in all it was a really fun time. They offer this toddler play time for children under age 2 every Tuesday at 9am. I think we’ll try to go back again later on in April!

Here are just a few pictures from our morning out!

This past Tuesday, one of my meetup groups, the Capital City Fun Bunch, had a morning play date scheduled at Fairy Tale Town. The girls LOVE going here so of course, I RSVP’d for it… Well, the day before, I found out our organizer’s little girl wasn’t feeling so well. She asked me to host the event for her, and I gladly obliged…

As soon as I got there, I took out the list of everyone that was supposed to be there… I had to keep the girls from just running into the park without me as we waited for everyone to arrive! They were so excited! I was able to meet up with a few moms, and get everyone into the park…

Once in the park, it was every mom for themselves.. mostly… It was so hard to even try to keep the kids together as a group. With the age differences, some of the kids wanted to go on the big slides, where others wanted to just kind of toddle around. Monkey See and Monkey Do were all over the “Owl’s House” slide.. They went on that slide 5 times!!! I had to catch them at the bottom to keep them from going on it again. We waled around, saw the animals there. They got all excited to see the goats, sheep, pigs, and bunny rabbits. One of the staff members even picked up a rooster for the girls to pet.. They loved that.

All in all it was a good morning.. It was nice to meet some new moms I hadn’t seen at previous meetups. I look forward to hosting more events in the future!

Today we went to the Old Sacramento Rail Road Museum with our West Sacramento Meet up group.. The Capital City Fun Bunch…

We all met up outside the museum entrance and made our way in… We have a membership to the museum, so it was very easy to get in.. If anyone lives in the area… I highly recommend getting a membership! It will totally pay for itself after you go a few times and check out the rotating exhibits!

Anyway, we had so much fun! The girls were so excited to see all of the trains, and walk through a few of them. I think their favorite one is the Passenger train that actually feels like it’s moving. They have it on a simulator that rocks it ever so slightly like you’re actually riding on a train. It’s pretty cool for them.. but it makes my legs feel like jello… It’s connected up to a dining car that shows off several table settings of fine china from the different rail lines. One of them is the prettiest pattern I’ve ever seen. There are other cars to walk through, such as a refrigerated box car, or the mail car. There’s also cars that have been decorated up as bedroom suites, and others that are actual dining rooms.

After a leisurely stroll through the big cars, you can go upstairs to the model train displays. They have trains of all ages and sizes up there. They even show you how to tell if your model train set is worth crazy amounts of money, or not… At the end of the floor, they have three Thomas the Train tables that the kids can play with. They’re awesome, especially the middle one. There’s a bubble in the middle that the kids can stand up in and watch the train go around them. They absolutely love that one… especially the button that makes the train bells ring.. oh boy do they love that one…

Like I said earlier, we have the membership, so we come here pretty frequently. They do have some rotating exhibits, which are always neat to see… I do still think the biggest hit of any visit is the Thomas the Train play area…

Hope to see you there sometime!

Today, the girls and I met up with our Sacramento Moms & Tots Meetup group at The Yoga Solution for the Sunshine Kids Yoga Program. The girls were very excited about the idea of doing Yoga with Mommy.. They know that when we go to “exercise“, Mommy goes upstairs to do Yoga. I’ve shown them a few of the poses and they love to copy me. They tell everyone that they are big girls doing Yoga like Mommy. We all went in our Yoga outfits, and they helped me carry in our Yoga mats. We were the first ones there that day… They were very excited.

As it got closer to 1030, the room began to get busier with moms and their children. Monkey See and Monkey Do were getting a little antsy, and ready to stretch.. Our instructor was Phaedria. She was very sweet, and worked with the children very well. You could tell she was a mom! She did tell us not to worry about the kids wandering around… They’ always come back LOL.. Sure enough, Monkey See and Monkey Do loved to wander. They did come back to see what Mommy was doing, and even joined in a few of the activities. I found it interesting how Monkey Do was very involved and had a great time with all of the other kids, where Monkey See was more independent and curious about the room and everything in it. Some of the poses we did with the kids were just so cute. She had little animal toys with her and showed the kids an animal and had them act out being that animal, and stretch how the animal stretches. It was super cute!

All in all, we had a wonderful time! I asked the girls if they wanted to go back, and they both said “YES!” We weren’t able to make it to the February classes due to prior plans.. but Phaedria told us that she was going to also hold a class in April! We are definitely going to sign up for that one! I highly recommend that you check it out!

Here’s the info for her February class… stay tuned, and I’ll get the April Class info… She may be adding a second day of class depending on demand…

We found the coolest spot to hang out here! It’s called The Bounce Spot! It’s located in West Sacramento at 2939 Promenade St and it’s in a spot you wouldn’t even think of looking! We were invited to go here for the October Birthday celebrations of my meetup group, the Sacramento Strollerfriends, and I figured it had to be a fun place for the girls. They love to jump and run around.

I was a little scared to take them by myself.. but then I realized, I won’t exactly be alone. There will be a bunch of mom’s there watching all of the kids. The other cool thing was that they allow the parents to jump around with the kids. I noticed when we got in there that it was a completely closed in place, so the girls couldn’t just wander off. It helped me out with letting them run around a little more. I did like how I could stand in between the two rooms and still see the girls pretty much anywhere in the rooms.

We were not allowed to have shoes, food or drink in the bounce rooms. They did have party rooms to sit down and snack in, and something I just learned is that they have free Wi-Fi in their lobby! That is just too cool! Ok, so you have to know me and daddy to know why that is so cool… We love free Wi-Fi! The entire place is super clean and kept very nice for the kids. I didn’t have to worry about them getting hurt there. They also had someone walking around all the time making sure the kids weren’t shoving other kids around. I really felt comfortable taking the girls there.

The girls had so much fun, and I had fun watching them run around just laughing! I told daddy about it, and now he wants to take the girls back for HIS birthday on the 25th. We can’t wait!
