CHOO CHOO… All aboard!!
Today we went to the Old Sacramento Rail Road Museum with our West Sacramento Meet up group.. The Capital City Fun Bunch…
We all met up outside the museum entrance and made our way in… We have a membership to the museum, so it was very easy to get in.. If anyone lives in the area… I highly recommend getting a membership! It will totally pay for itself after you go a few times and check out the rotating exhibits!
Anyway, we had so much fun! The girls were so excited to see all of the trains, and walk through a few of them. I think their favorite one is the Passenger train that actually feels like it’s moving. They have it on a simulator that rocks it ever so slightly like you’re actually riding on a train. It’s pretty cool for them.. but it makes my legs feel like jello… It’s connected up to a dining car that shows off several table settings of fine china from the different rail lines. One of them is the prettiest pattern I’ve ever seen. There are other cars to walk through, such as a refrigerated box car, or the mail car. There’s also cars that have been decorated up as bedroom suites, and others that are actual dining rooms.
After a leisurely stroll through the big cars, you can go upstairs to the model train displays. They have trains of all ages and sizes up there. They even show you how to tell if your model train set is worth crazy amounts of money, or not… At the end of the floor, they have three Thomas the Train tables that the kids can play with. They’re awesome, especially the middle one. There’s a bubble in the middle that the kids can stand up in and watch the train go around them. They absolutely love that one… especially the button that makes the train bells ring.. oh boy do they love that one…
Like I said earlier, we have the membership, so we come here pretty frequently. They do have some rotating exhibits, which are always neat to see… I do still think the biggest hit of any visit is the Thomas the Train play area…
Hope to see you there sometime!
