Damn that Murphy….

This morning sucks… I was finally ready to go to the gym by 9am so I could get a good cardio workout before going to yoga… I went to the car to get the girls’ crocs… and lo and behold.. I can’t open my car door. My alarm isn’t working, and no lights are on… My battery is DEAD!!! WTF??? This can’t be happening!!!! Nooooooooo..

Well, Daddy pushed my van out of the garage, once I figured out how to unlock it and put it in neutral.. and then he pulled his truck out of the garage so we could get our batteries nearer to each other..  poor guy was supposed to be on his way to work… Anyway.. once we got my car out of the garage, and half way into the street, I stopped so he could get his truck… Once we got the jumper cables on… I had halfway expected just a little glimmer of light, or the key in the ignition alarm to start beeping… nothing.. absolutely nothing… We let it sit for a little bit, trying to rev up his engine every now and then… All I could picture was my big van draining the life out of his little S10… slurp…

I think we let it sit for about 15 mins, and still nothing… not a dash light, not a beep, ding, anything… and time was ticking away. Daddy had to get to work.. and I had to get to yoga… I finally decided to call my parents… They always know what to do… I finally got them on the phone, and my dad (Peepaw) just said “We’re on our way”… That’s it… LOL.. Daddy pushed the van back a little further, and then forward while I desperately tried cranking my steering wheel to get closer to the sidewalk… Darn.. you mean no Power Steering when the battery is dead??? Good thing I’ve been going to Yoga and building my arm muscles up! Came in handy today!  I got the van all locked up, and the girls came and kissed Daddy goodbye one more time so he could finally get on his way to work… Poor Daddy… He got up early, went to the gym, worked his muscles, got us all breakfast, and then had to push my van around… My Hero!!!

Well, Meemaw and Peepaw got here just about 945a… He hooked up his little Power Charger thingy to my battery, and voila…  IT’S ALIIIIIVE!!!!!!!!! OMG I must have one! He told me to drive around a little bit.. so I took it down the freeway just to the next exit and came back home… Got into the garage, turned it off, and then back on.. just to check it… It started!!! Oh Thank GOD!!!!

We ended up leaving for the gym around 1005a… Didn’t make it in time for yoga, but I got some good cardio done.  Meemaw called me about 45 mins into my workout and told me they were at Sam’s Club, and they had the newer starters there… for $18… I was on my way!

By the time I got there, Peepaw had looked though all of them, verified the price, and grabbed two of them for me.. so we could keep one in each car… Too cool! I can’t believe they were only $18… and now I can charge my iPhone on the go if I need to! Mine has a USB outlet to it!!!

Well.. I guess this is my kick in the rear… Check all of the lights and switches after one of the girls have crawled into the front seats while I’m buckling in the other one..
