Handling a time change with kids..
You know… because doing anything with kids means it’s going to be harder then doing it without…. Right??
Not neccessarily..
This Sunday is the annual Spring Forward date… I’m not really looking forward to losing an hour of sleep.. but I think it hits me harder than it hits the girls.
Here are a few tips to helping your children adjust to the time change!
- Do nothing! They’ll wake up an hour later the next day (sort of).
- You can gradually adjust your child’s bedtime by moving their bedtime forward 15 minutes each night starting on Thursday.
- Wake your child an hour earlier on the day of the time change hoping that they’ll nap an hour earlier and then in turn, go to bed an hour earlier.
- Wake the kids by exposing them to a lot of light in the morning. Open the shades, turn on lights, whatever it takes, rather than letting them lie groggy in a darkened room letting them drift in and out of sleep. This may help jolt their internal clock to switch time as well, and get them moving earlier!
Do you have any other suggestions?? Post them in the comments!!!
