I think this is just the worst thing ever… I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong.. or am I doing anything right?
The girls have been doing so well in their potty training.. and today I just want to cry… They haven’t used the potty once.. They’ve both gone in their underwear all day. I’ve stopped them and asked them to try using the toilet… They won’t go… then 5 mins later, they’ll have peed or pooped in their underwear… I’m seriously tired today!!!
I finally put them in pull ups because I just got so tired of following after them with the steam cleaner… Well, I’m out of solution too.. I need to buy more.. I just don’t get it…
Yesterday, they did so well.. Even at the gym… I went through a 1 hour water aerobics class, and then 2 miles on the treadmill and heard nothing from the day care. When I went to pick them up, I found out that they both used the toilet all morning. I was so happy! Today, however, they’ve been just the opposite.. and we’ve been home all day!
I’ve tried it all.. Sticker charts, bribing w/ Jelly Belly’s, positive praise, you name it.. I’ve tried it… I’m getting so flustered… What did you do?? Help!

First, stop stressing GF, munchkins have their days as you well know. Second, ditch the Pullups. Here’s why. The pullups soak up the urine and pull it away from the skin so well that not all kids know they’ve had an accident in the first place. Diapers are way better and even though they also pull wetness away from the skin, it reminds the child that they are wearing a diaper and not big girl/boy undies. Which is a huge goal. Especially for girls. The way i finally did it with my daughter was to find her the cutest girliest fancy panties ever seen and told her they were special big girl panties and that she could only wear them if she was sure she could be a big girl and use the potty. Well, I promise you, she’d just about have rather died than mess those pretty panties up and the problem was solved. we’re doing the same thing with my niece hanna now and it’s HELL, she’s even more obstinate than my daughter was. But the doctor told us about the pullups issue and how those are seldom effective and he said as well that in the long run, if the worst thing we had to do was change a yucky diaper for another few months that we were lucky since some kids are in them for years and years without much hope of ever not needing them. Kinda puts it in perspective. I know it’s ookie though. Give em time, i bet they’re on the right track in no time at all. Positive praise is always the best way to get them to do ANYTHING and you’re already doing that. Total genius you are!

How old are they again? We went thru the exact same thing when my youngest turned 2. I got tired of washing sheets, undies and soiled clothes every day – so we gave it a rest and tried again later.
Many months later.
And then it was no longer an issue for us.
Good luck!

With my daughter, the first time I tried to train her, she was enthusiastic on the first day, but then the next, she just didnt want to co-operate, so I decided to leave it a while. When I tried the next time, it went well. I believe that when they’re ready they will try and will co-operate with you.
ugh! so not looking forward to this! I’m just now starting to think about potty training?!?
