Sleep is so overrated!

I don’t get it.. There are some nights where you are just utterly exhausted, and yet, you can not fall asleep. Last night was one of those nights.. I was so tired, I think we went to bed before the 10pm news was over… which is very rare for me. Once I was up there, though, I couldn’t fall asleep. Neither could Daddy. He tossed and turned, it was bad. Daddy finally got up to take a shower, thinking it would help him out. He came back to bed, and was snoring… Lovely… I was hoping he’d stop just long enough for me to fall asleep.. No such luck. The snoring continued, until I jumped up. I heard one of the girls coughing and sort of crying in the monitor… I ran into their bedroom, and Monkey Do had vomited in her bed. She was crying and I just yelled for Daddy. He came and scooped her up and ran her out of there and into our bathroom. Poor little baby was still puking when I got into the bathroom after them. She had it all over her jammies and her hair, and was scared out of her mind…

Daddy held on to her as she finished getting everything up, and then he gave her another bath, washing her hair, brushing her teeth, and cleaning her up. I cleaned up her bed, threw her jammies, sheets and blankets all in the washer. I made sure there wasn’t anything left on the bed, or floor around it, scanning the area with a flashlight. Luckily I think it was all contained in her bedsheets.

I  got her out of the bath, and dried her hair while Daddy cleaned himself off, since she had blasted his shoulder. Ah the joys of parenthood.. We got her dressed, calmed down, checked her temperature (100.6) gave her a little bit of tylenol to bring her temp down, and asked her if she wanted to go back to bed… She shook her head no. So, we let her crawl into bed with us. She snuggled with Daddy so close, and then she reached out and touched my face. She wanted to hold my hand. I was just so ready to cry.. I love these moments when they really show you how much they need you.

Anyway, she rolled onto her side, and curled up closed her eyes, and was almost asleep when we asked her if she was ready to go back to her bed so she could sleep next to sister. She shook her head yes, still keeping her eyes closed. I picked her up, and she laid her head on my shoulder. Daddy and I gave her good nite kisses again, and laid her down to sleep. I covered her up with her blankets, and she was out.. It was amazing. Oh.. and I almost forgot to mention… Monkey See slept through the entire ordeal..

Back to our reality, it was now 2am, and we were both wide awake again. I think we finally fell asleep somewhere around 230am..  I don’t remember. We were up around 730am for the day.. Monkey Do has been totally normal all day. No sickies, just a tiny temperature (99.3) at lunch time. I didn’t even give her tylenol this time. I want to see how it plays out. She’s not acting funny, or complaining of anything, so I think she’ll be ok.

Now they’re both napping, and you’d think I’d be napping too… Nope.. like I said.. sleep is so overrated LOL
