Dear Monica,

We are separating unlimited DVDs by mail and unlimited streaming into two separate plans to better reflect the costs of each. Now our members have a choice: a streaming only plan, a DVD only plan, or both.

Your current $9.99 a month membership for unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs will be split into 2 distinct plans:

Plan 1: Unlimited Streaming (no DVDs) for $7.99 a month

Plan 2: Unlimited DVDs, 1 out at-a-time (no streaming) for $7.99 a month

Your price for getting both of these plans will be $15.98 a month ($7.99 + $7.99). You don’t need to do anything to continue your memberships for both unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs.

These prices will start for charges on or after September 1, 2011.

You can easily change or cancel your unlimited streaming plan, unlimited DVD plan, or both, by going to the Plan Change page in Your Account.

Like seriously??? I’ve had a Netflix account for several years now, as have many others, and have already gone through a couple of pricing changes. But this one??? This one takes the cake. You are going to increase our cost by 60% for us to get exactly what we get right now. No better streaming video choices. No better streaming video quality. No quicker DVD releases. No nothing, but less money in my bank account. How is this a deal??? Who are these changes going to benefit??? YOU! What is the customer going to get out of this? NOTHING. Are you Nucking Futs???

Netflix, unless you decide to leave your pricing plans as they are… I’ll most likely be canceling my account… I mean… You state in your email that “You can easily change or cancel your unlimited streaming plan, unlimited DVD plan, or both, by going to the Plan Change page in Your Account.” So you don’t really care if I stay or go right?!?! That’s like saying.. Gee thanks for being a customer, but if you don’t like our new pricing plans… you can eff off… Screw you Netflix… Screw you… Your competitors are looking better and better…

**UPDATE: I finally got through to customer service, and they literally told me that they were not “holding me hostage with a contract and that I was free to leave their service any time” Ummm Wow… you said it… See ya…

That’s a huge reason we’ve stayed with AT&T.. Their smart phone plans made it worth staying with them… that and the iPhone isn’t anywhere else… Well, hubby and I have been looking for an excuse to go android, and this just about settled it…

Then I called AT&T to get the scoop from them directly. I was read verbatim, their new policy, sent via their internal email system. She told me that they are NOT going to be making any existing customers change to the new plans… even though they can do so at no cost to them… They won’t make you sign a new contract. She also specifically stated that if we choose to upgrade our phones, we don’t have to change our data plan either… Keep in mind, something with the new data plans though… Tethering… It’s been something many iPhone customers have asked for.. and now you may have it… IF you sign up for one of their other plans… oh.. and pay extra… Now, she couldn’t send me a copy of this at all.. since it was on their internal email system…but she told me that the news should be all over the internet by now…

Here are the new data plans that will be available starting June 7th.

Data Plus – 200 MB of data for $15/month. Additional 200MB for another $15.
DataPro – 2GB of data for $25/month. Additional 1 GB of data for $10.
Tethering – Additional $20/month for DataPro customers.

Yea.. love that extra fee for tethering.. Way to go AT&T… really… way to just bleed us for more money… I can not say how much I really dislike AT&T… Their service dies when I hit my driveway.. but dammit.. they have the iPhone.. and no one else does… Damn…

Right??

Not neccessarily..

This Sunday is the annual Spring Forward date… I’m not really looking forward to losing an hour of sleep.. but I think it hits me harder than it hits the girls.

Here are a few tips to helping your children adjust to the time change!

Do nothing! They’ll wake up an hour later the next day (sort of).

You can gradually adjust your child’s bedtime by moving their bedtime forward 15 minutes each night starting on Thursday.

Wake your child an hour earlier on the day of the time change hoping that they’ll nap an hour earlier and then in turn, go to bed an hour earlier.

Wake the kids by exposing them to a lot of light in the morning. Open the shades, turn on lights, whatever it takes, rather than letting them lie groggy in a darkened room letting them drift in and out of sleep. This may help jolt their internal clock to switch time as well, and get them moving earlier!

Do you have any other suggestions?? Post them in the comments!!!

This just reeks of phish to me… and yes, I do mean PHISHING… Late last night/early this morning, I couldn’t get onto my Twitter account from my iPhone. I usually check my tweets before I go to bed, no idea why.. but I do.. Anyway… I couldn’t figure out why TweetDeck kept telling me I couldn’t tweet. I went and tried logging on via the website, and couldn’t. I knew I was typing in my password correctly, so that couldn’t be it… I reset my password anyway, and got in. Well, this morning, I get downstairs and find this email in my inbox (click on it to make it larger):

I find it very strange that Twitter would send out emails telling me to change my password due to a possible phishing attempt…. WITH A LINK ON IT!!! Sure, it looks official, and the from, etc look legit.. but are they really??? And me?? a phishing attempt?? I don’t click on links in emails. I don’t enter my passwords into weird websites… I’m extremely cautious when it comes to online security.. so even being sent this is weird to me…

If you got one of these, and used it to change your password, I’d highly suggest going back to TWITTER and changing your password directly on that site. Just my 2 cents

UPDATE: Thanks to @RealLifeSheri for showing me this Mashable article… http://mashable.com/2010/02/02/twitter-under-phishing-attack/ Apparently it is a legit email, but the part that scares me is that if this email looks legit, what is stopping the real phishers from making an email that looks exactly like this. If you get emails with links in them, don’t follow them to change your password. Even the most legitimate looking email could be a phishing attempt… That’s the point.. They try to trick you. If you feel your account may have been compromised, go directly to the site that you know, and change your password through them rather than a link in email…

I just wanted to thank everyone who has offered advice about coping with this time change. So far.. it’s interesting… They woke up around 8 am… which was technically no different.. We had breakfast, and hung out around the house until Meemaw and Peepaw got here. They took the girls to the playground to tire them out… They didn’t get back till nearly 230p, and then it was lunch.. an hour behind schedule already… We got them down for nap around 315p and they ended up sleeping until 530p. We then ran out to the new Home Depot to see if they had a shelving unit for our garage.

Daddy and I had spent most of the day cleaning the garage… and we realized, we just didn’t have enough storage… Is there ever enough storage in a garage?

Anyway, we didn’t realize what time it was when we got out of there, thanks to my watch still being an hour off. UGH. We ran over to the Nugget Market to get a sandwich for dinner. Not the healthiest option, but it was fast. As soon as we got home, we all ate dinner, and gave the girls a quick bath. We put them in bed around 9pm which was only an hour later than what we had hoped. They didn’t fall asleep for nearly an hour. Daddy and I worked on the garage until nearly midnight…

This morning, they woke up around 8am.. Ok.. not so bad.. except it was a YOGA morning!!! I had to be out of here no later than 915a… We rushed through getting dressed, eating breakfast, and I let them watch one episode of Dora.. Out the door we ran… Yoga was great.. I just couldn’t balance as well due to lack of sleep.. but the girls had fun at the daycare.. We left there and ran to the grocery store to grab a few things for tonight’s dinner. As soon as we came home, we played a little, read a couple of books, and then had lunch. Then it was up to nap for the girls… at about 1pm, I took them upstairs, and just PRAYED they’d take a nap, considering it was still (according to their internal clock time) barely noon.. It took them a little bit of time, but around 145p they finally fell asleep. I think I’m going to add some blackout fabric to their curtains to help make it darker in there…

When they wake up, I’m going to take them outside to color, and run around a bit… It would help if I had more than a concrete slab for a back yard… but I’m not about to take them out to the front yard… Too many people speed down the street, and I’m not taking any chances.. Someday.. I’ll have a house, with a yard… or a few acres… We’re working on that…

For now, just tiring the heck out of them is probably the best thing I can do… I see a lot of park/playground visits in the future…

Thanks again for all of the suggestions!!!

Remember those days when your baby just slept? When you put them down for a nap, they fell asleep almost instantly to the soothing sounds of a classical lullaby in the background. Those days are gone for me… Long gone.. When I put them down for a nap, Monkey See and Monkey Do instantly turn their bedroom into a playground. Their cribs turn into trampolines and monkey bars. The room around their cribs turns into a running track, and their blankets turn into… well.. a pile of blankets on the floor.

They used to be so good at going to nap and falling asleep withing 10 minutes of being covered with their blanket. Now, they play for an hour or more. I’ve gone in there and tried bribing them with treats, fun things to do, etc when they wake up.. but it doesn’t help. I’m almost ready to give in and keep them up in hopes that they’ll go to bed earlier in the evening…

Speaking of going to bed earlier— This weekend is the big Spring Forward on the clocks! I’m so scared! They already go to bed at 9pm, most nights… and there is NO way I’m letting them stay up until 10pm! I just know they’re going to start waking up around 6:30am now because the sun is going to be coming up “earlier”.. HELP!

How do you cope with the time change? They used to not be so affected by it, but now they are!
